Koh Sri Chang
is a perfect getaway for travelers addicted to history and having
fun. This tiny island has a population of only 500 people, mostly
fishermen who practice the old way of life. Koh Sri Chang have
been the important seaside vacation location since King
Rama IV. The King loved to visit Koh Sri Chang to admire
its magnificent scenery and tranquil atmosphere. He gave the word
to admire Koh Sri Chang as “Sri Chang
has very good weather, people who live here has longer live because
of no illness”. In the reign of King Rama V, many
palaces were built on this island which can see until now.
Koh Sri Chang is located in Gulf of Thailand,
Si Racha district, Chonburi province. It is about
12 km from mainland (30 minutes traveling time by boat). People
who go to this island mostly are Sri Chang islander and people
who want to worship San Chaopo Khao Yai. Apart
from this, there is Khao Khat Pass, the cliff
which is the best spot for fishing and Hat Tham Phang
is located towards the back of the island. The sloping beach is
located on the leeward side of the island. It is a perfect spot
for swimming as the sea is clear and somewhat calm or relaxing
on the beach to admire the sunset. However bicycle is not permitted
on beach.
Mostly cycling trail or 90% is concrete road with short distance
of uphill and downhill. The rest 10% is laterite road which is
in the south of the island named “Tha Yei Tim”.
